John Henry Campbell was born on July 13, 1922, in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana. He was the son of Oscar Marvin Campbell and Mary Emer Haselwood Campbell.
He served in Company F, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 29, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
