Robert Eugene Campbell was born on May 4, 1920, in Olympia, Thurston County, Washington. He was the son of Leslie Charles Campbell and Hazel Gladys Ahearn Campbell.
He served in Company I, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Sergeant during World War II. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 29, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
