John Douglas Cuthbertson was born in 1925, in Paris, Brant County Municipality, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of John Collins Cuthbertson and Edna Blanche Leone Postill Cuthbertson.
He served in Company I, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
