Joseph Henry Dickson was born on November 23, 1917, in Niles, Trumbull County, Ohio. He was the son of Charles Leo and Nora Griffin Dickson.
Dickson attended McKinley High School and was formerly employed by the Ohio Leather Works. He served in Company E, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
