William Etheridge Dierking was born on September 27, 1913, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. He was the son of William Frederick Dierking and Louise Etheridge Dierking.
He served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant during World War II. Lt.Dierking was poisoned by a native fruit juice which he drank. The juice had become contaminated and he died shortly afterwards. Dr. Dierking served his internship at Covington KY and was a resident doctor at Children's Hospital at Louisville. He graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, enlisted in the Naval division, and was sent overseas for service. He died on August 31, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
