William Franklin Edwards was born on July 12, 1925, in Stephens County, Texas. He was the son of George Byers Edwards and Ruby Mae Belew Thiele.
He served in Company B, 1st Batallion, 22nd Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Private First Class during World War II. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
