Walter George Epply was born on November 14, 1916, in New Hampshire. He was the son of Joseph Epply. He was married to Diana Drury Epply.
Epply graduated from McGill University in medicine in the spring of 1942 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. He finished his internship in Vancouver and went to the Pacific, where he has been active in service for the past 13 months. He served in the United States Naval Reserve as a Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
