Vincent Astor Ford was born on February 5, 1913, in South Carolina. He was the son of Boyd Ford and Zonnie Moss Elvington Ford.
Ford entered the Marine Corps in 1934, serving in Peking and Shanghai, China. He voluntarily returned to service in 1940, after receiving a discharge in 1938. He trained recruits at Parris Island and later attended officers training school at Quantico, Virginia where he received his commission.
He served in Company A, 1st Battalion, 22nd Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
