Virgil Herbert Furlong was born on January 28, 1926. He was the son of Herbert Furlong and Ellen Mae Frederickson Furlong.
He served in the Headquarters and Services Company, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 22, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
