Graham Emanuel Golson was born on March 28, 1915. He was the son of Graham T. Golson and Rochelle Cochran Golson.
Golson was a graduate of Emery University, Atlanta, and was with the Telegraph for about three years before enlisting in the Marines early in 1942. He served in Company G, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He had left his foxhole at approximately 1:00 a.m. to check his platoon's machine guns when a Japanese light machine gun opened up and hit him in the face. He was Killed in Action on July 24, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
