Eugene Lee Gookin was born on April 8, 1914. He was the son of Jacob Barkley Gookin and Lillian Isabelle Huston Gookin.
He served in the Weapons Company, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
