John Teaton Hardcastle was born on May 26, 1922, in Tennessee. He was the son of John Fouler Hardcastle Sr. and Mattie Lou Clouse Hardcastle. He was married to Helen Pearl Mahan Olmstead.
He served in the Weapons Company, 21st Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
