Herbert Helmut Hauck was born on March 19, 1915, in Burt, Hettinger County, North Dakota. He was the son of Jacob Mike Hauck and Amelia Mehlhaff Hauck.
He served in the Headquarters and Service Company, 19th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 23, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
