Derrol Dean Hubbard was born on August 6, 1924, in Smith County, Kansas. He was the son of Miner Derrol Hubbard and Ethel “Loese” Brown Hubbard.
He served in Company L, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Corporal during World War II. Hubbard with his platoon was cleaning out one side of Orote Peninsula near the airfield when he was fatally wounded. He was Killed in Action on July 30, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
