John Henry Kirkpatrick was born on September 24, 1922. He was the son of Charlie M. Kirkpatrick and Anna M. Kirkpatrick. He served in Company A, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Private First Class during World War II. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 27, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
