Franklin Max Lawrence was born on July 29, 1920, in Wells, Miami County, Indiana. He was the son of Elmer J. Lawrence and Ethel Sarah McDaniel Lawrence.
He served in Company I, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
