Edward Paul McCarthy was born on November 20, 1924, in Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York. He was the son of William J. McCarthy and Margaret A. McCarthy.
He served in Company G, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
