Edward Daniel “Eddie” McKim Jr. was born on October 15, 1921, in Missouri. He was the son of Edward Daniel "Ed" McKim and Mary Virginia Clifford McKim. He was married to Frances Helen Radford Dieringer.
McKim is a graduate of Notre Dame University. He was the leader of a rifle platoon that knocked out three Japanese-held caves in the cliffs of Guam during the initial landing. He served in Company A, 1st Battalion, 21st Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 26, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
