Alexander Gray Minehart was born on November 9, 1910, in Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Harry Huston Minehart Sr. and Mable Gray Minehart. He was married to Della Burnette.

He served in the 302nd Engineer Combat Battalion, 77th Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 10, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
