Robert Edward Nowakowski was born on August 9, 1924, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was the son of Frank T. Nowakowski and Josephine Prudence Hojnacka Nowakowski.
He served in Company L, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 27, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
