Rollin Earnest Wright Jr. was born on October 6, 1923, in Thermopolis, Hot Springs County, Wyoming. He was the son of Rollin Earnest Wright and Olive Emily Davis Wright.
He served in the 323rd Bomber Squadron, 91st Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant during World War II. He was the tail gunner of B-17G 43-37594 "Strictly GI" that was shot down after a bombing mission in Mannheim and Ludwigshafen, Germany, crashing at Lachen-Speyerdorf Forest. He was Killed in Action on September 9, 1944, during the mission.
