Arnold Oland Powell was born on March 3, 1917, in Olla, La Salle Parish, Louisiana. He was the son of Jesse McKinnon Powell and Maude Ollareine McBroom Powell.
He served in Company B, 1st Battalion, 22nd Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Sergeant during World War II. He was declared Missing in Action on July 27, 1944, during the Battle for Guam. His body has not recovered.
