Francis Sherman Scheffer was born on December 20, 1918. He was the son of George Perry Scheffer and Essie Louise Hubert Scheffer.
He served in Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
