Horace Sessions Smith was born on June 12, 1916, in Bountiful, Davis County, Utah. He was the son of David Howe Smith and Samantha Sessions Smith.
He served in Company F, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
