Merle John Stowe was born on July 15, 1924, in Nebraska. He was the son of John Belmont Stowe and Alma Marie Saul Stowe. He was married to Wildred Miller.
He served in Company F, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 24, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
