Richard Eugene Vervalin was born on October 17, 1921, in Denver, City and County of Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Henry S. Vervalin and Lila Burrington Vervalin.
He served in Company C, 1st Battalion, 22nd Marine Regiment, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade as a Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
