John Franklin Walter was born on June 16, 1924, in Maryland. He was the son of George Cloudsley Walter and Ethel Mae Zimmerman Walter.
He served in Battery F, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 26, 1944, during the Battle for Guam. He was originally declared Missing in Action and was later interred here on December 1, 1949, after his remains were recovered.
