Joseph Lynden White was born on December 15, 1923, in New Waterford, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was the son of Mary Jane Katherine Yorke Roe.
He served in Company B, 1st Battalion, 21st Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 4, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
