James Fred Hudgins was born on December 14, 1924, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. He was the son of Sudie Elizabeth Smith Hudgins.
He served in the 93rd Bomber Squadron, 19th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and co-pilot of B-29-25-MO Superfortress #42-65310 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 10, 1945, when the aircraft made a navigational error and crashed into Mt. Fubo.
