Frank Mathias Krusel was born on October 4, 1908, in Hallock, Kittson County, Minnesota. He served in the 712th Tank Battalion as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 26, 1944, when his Sherman tank struck a stack of land mines at the hamlet of La Doderie in Gonfreville, France. Pfc. Krusel was awarded the Purple Heart and was buried at Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France.
