Donald C. Brueggemeier was born in 1916, in Wood County, Ohio. He was the son of Martin H. W. Brueggemeier and Edith Hasel Brueggemeier. He was the husband of Lauretta Julia Miller Kahle.

Donald Brueggemeier served in Company K, 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 14, 1944, during the Liberation of Saint-Malo in France. Pfc. Brueggemeier was buried at Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, Wood County, Ohio, USA.
