Robert Cole Caine was born on September 10, 1919, in Bridgeton, Cumberland County, New Jersey. He was the son of George Llewellyn Caine Sr. and Eva H. Pullinger Caine. He was the husband of Harriet Jaggers Caine. They had two children, Kenneth Robert "Bob" Caine and Lyndal W. Kellogg.
Robert Caine served in Company L, 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 12, 1944, during the Liberation of Saint-Malo in France. He was buried at Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
