Paul M. Mascari was born on March 31, 1918, in Rock Island County, Illinois. He was married to Catherine Pauline Lowe Mewhinney.

He served in Company A, 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. Pvt. Mascari was Killed in Action on August 13, 1944, during the Liberation of Saint-Malo in France. He was buried at Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Departement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France, and was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
