Paul P. Ruark was born on October 30, 1922. He was the son of George Thompson Ruark and Sally Estella Gregg Ruark.

He served in Company K, 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. Pfc. Ruark was Killed in Action on August 12, 1944, during the Liberation of Saint-Malo in France. He was buried at Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina, USA, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
