Robert William Bogar was born on December 11, 1919, in Ashtabula, Ashtabula County, Ohio. He served in Company C, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Sergeant during World War II. Sgt Bogar was hit by machine gun fire and Killed in Action on June 13, 1914, during the Battle of the Moulin des Rondelles in France. He was initially buried in Normandy American Cemetery and then brought home to be buried in Edgewood Cemetery on February 5, 1948. Sgt Bogar was awarded the Purple Heart.
