Marvin Hubert Allen was born on November 10, 1922, in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas. He was the son of Charlie Berry Allen Sr. and Marjorie Wagner Allen. He enlisted in the service on December 4, 1942.

Allen served in the Mortar Platoon Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Corporal during World War II. On June 5, 1944, Hubert and his comrades prepared for their mission after a brief delay due to weather. During the flight to Normandy, they faced heavy German anti-aircraft fire, leading to a chaotic parachute drop where many soldiers were separated from their units. Despite the challenges, Hubert and his fellow paratroopers fought to capture and hold the La Fière Bridge, a critical objective for the invasion’s success. They endured several days of intense combat, German counterattacks, and dwindling supplies. On June 11, 1944, Hubert was shot by a German sniper and was Killed in Action while searching for food, during the Battle of Graignes in France. Cpl Allen was buried at Hillcrest Burial Park Cemetery, Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas, USA.
