Robert Walter Britton was born on April 12, 1918, in Merchantville, Camden County, New Jersey. He served in the Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Private and a Paratrooper during World War II. Pvt Britton was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, during the Battle of Graignes in France. He was buried at Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
