Elmer Francis Farnham was born on October 5, 1914, in Shamokin, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of George Washington Farnham and Mable Jane Faust Spier.
Elmer served in Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 507th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a First Lieutenant during World War II. 1Lt Franham was Killed in Action on June 13, 1944, when a German shell struck and destroyed a church steeple from which he was observing the operations of the enemy during the Battle of Graignes in France. He was buried at Washington Cemetery, Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania, USA.
