Shuford Nathan Humphries was born on April 26, 1916, in Converse, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He served in the 507th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. PFC Humphries was Killed in Action on June 11, 1944, during the Battle of Graignes in France. He was buried at Normandy American Cemetery and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
