Reuben F. Lempke was born on February 12, 1924, in Wisconsin. He was the son of August Lempke and Anna Kriedeman Lempke.

Reuben served in the 507th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 11, 1944, during the Battle of Graignes in France. Pvt Lempke is now buried in Union Cemetery, Jefferson, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, USA, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
