Edward Joseph Pillis was born on May 15, 1917, in Waterbury, New Haven County, Connecticut. He served in the 507th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Private during World War II. Pvt Pillis was Killed in Action on June 11, 1944, during the Battle of Graignes in France. He is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery and was awarded the Purple Heart.
