Ralph Lewis Heck was born on January 25, 1917, in Altoona, Wilson County, Kansas. He was the son of John William Heck and Grace May Record Heck.
Ralph served in the 75th Medical Battalion, 5th Armored Division, as a Technician 5th Grade during World War II. T5 Heck was Killed in Action on August 6, 1944, during the liberation of Cossé-le-Vivien, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Departement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his bravery and sacrifices.
