Carl Minnear was born on July 4, 1921, in Jackson County, Tennessee. He was the son of James Tolbert Minnear and Jonnie B. Stockton Minnear. Carl served in the 410th Infantry Regiment, 103rd Infantry Division, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. SSgt Minnear was Killed in Action on November 29, 1944, during the liberation of Alsace, France. He is now buried in the Gene Butler Cemetery, Jackson County, Tennessee, USA. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
