Charles R. Coy Jr. was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the husband of Darlene V. Bosteder. Coy served in Company E, 1st Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. PFC Coy was one of 50 US Army Rangers who participated with British Commando on the Dieppe raid in 1942. He died on February 23, 1993, and is now buried in Villisca, Iowa.
