Owen E. Sweazey was born on June 6, 1920, in Clinton County, Indiana. He was the son of Gilbert Sylvanus Sweazey and Gladys Marie Workman Sweazey. He was married to Mary K. Ashley Sweazey.
Owen served in Company E, 1st Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was one of 50 US Army Rangers who participated with British Commando on the Dieppe raid in 1942. PFC Sweazey died on November 8, 1991, and is now buried in Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.
