Richard Jerome “Dick” Conway was born on May 20, 1925, in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa. He was the son of John Steven Conway and Martha Agatha "Mert" Tracy Conway. He registered in the service on May 20, 1943.

Richard served in the 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He died on October 7, 1944, and is now buried in Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial, Epinal, Departement des Vosges, Lorraine, France.
