Charles Frontuto was born on December 18, 1916, in Rochester, Monroe County, New York. He was the son of Vito Frontuto and Domenica Topazio Frontuto. He was married to Edwina Frontuto. He was employed in manufacturing paper and pulp with the Lawless Brother's Paper Mill before enlisting in the army on June 18, 1943.
Charles served in the 70th Tank Battalion as a Corporal during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 27, 1944, during the liberation of Chelles, France. Cpl Frontuto is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial, Epinal, Departement des Vosges, Lorraine, France. Note on Burial: Both Charles' and Harry's remains were incinerated and were impossible to identify separately. The burial is most unusual as it was decided to bury them in the same casket. The casket lies between the two headstones - one a Star of David and the other a Latin Cross.
