Clayton Walter Renslow was born on March 23, 1913, in North Saint Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. He was the son of Arthur A. Renslow and Clara Louisa Truesdell Renslow. He was married to Frances Marie Lonergan Moyer. They had a child namely Kenneth Clayton "Casey" Renslow.

Clayton served in the 142nd Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on November 30, 1944, during the liberation of Kintzheim, France. Pvt Renslow is now buried in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.
