Elmer Manen Gideon was born on December 8, 1919, in Holly, Prowers County, Colorado. He was the son of William Harrison Gideon and Grace E. Gideon. He enlisted in the service on November 17, 1942.
Elmer served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 4, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. Pvt Gideon is now buried in the Holly Cemetery, Holly, Prowers County, Colorado, USA.
