Alexander J. Halkoski was born on October 18, 1917, in Stevens Point, Portage County, Wisconsin. He was the husband of Mayme T. Kulas Hossa. They had a child namely Catherine M. "Kay Kay" Halkoski Hartlich.

Alexander served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 7, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. PFC Halkoski is now buried in the Guardian Angel Cemetery, Stevens Point, Portage County, Wisconsin, USA.
